Abstract

Japan and Turkey’s attempts to know about each other during the late 19th century are well known fact. In such an era, the short visit of Chisen Asahina –a Japanese reporter and intellectual- to Istanbul is of great importance, as he puts his impressions and knowledge of Turkey into articles and books. This paper deals with his writings and states his Turkish view.
