We are happy to share with you the fourth volume of “The Turkish Yearbook of Asia -- Pacific Studies”. The interest in this Yearbook continues to grow, boosted by our readers’ positive feedback since the last volume. Thank you. We welcome your increasing support for it encourages us to present a higher quality publication every time. Also, we’d like to say a further “Hello!” to our readers via our new website with its more reader-friendly interface.

In this fourth volume we present five articles and a book review, which were all meticulously chosen from a high quality group of studies. As in our previous volumes, we remain faithful to the principle of quality over quantity and have therefore preferred to limit content. We hope you enjoy the short and intense flavour of this Yearbook.

TAPAÇAY

The Eye looking to EastThe Turkish Yearbook of Asia - Pacific Studies, a national interdisciplinary academic journal, is intended to serve the academicians and researchers in all areas of international relations of the Asia - Pacific Region in a wide range from literature to politics, economy to philosophy and else that aims mainly focusing of understanding the region in many ways.

The Turkish Yearbook of Asia - Pacific Studies (TAPACAY) contains the most important part of East Asia Studies for more than 30 years which is mainly focused on Japan. The young researchers of whom we sent to many countires like; Japan, China, South Korea, Malesiai India and so on, are coming back to homeland after finishing their studies and researches to start their new life in Universities, Research Centers, Public - Private sectors.  TAPACAY, primarily aims and supports to publish the scientific articles of these academicians - researchers. As the interest and importance of the countries in  the Asia - Pacific Region is increasing fast in the globallizing system of the international relations, we believe, TAPACAY would response to the interest in our country.

Also, TAPACAY will become an International Academic Journal with the growing efforts and supports from the young researchers in the course of time. After all, the absence of the studies of the Asia - Pacific Region will be quench a little bit and the most positive result of this would be the developement of the strong basis in the political, economical and cultural relations  between Turkey and the countries in the region.
